The new local zones in Amsterdam and Brussels comply with European regulations on digital sovereignty and security, which are essential for organizations in sectors such as finance, banking and government.
Thanks to the recently acquired technology from Gridscale, OVHcloud was able to realize the Local Zone in Amsterdam. This technology enables the rapid deployment of new cloud capacities in international locations.
The opening of the Local Zone in Amsterdam underlines the central role of the Netherlands in OVHcloud’s strategy. This allows Dutch customers to benefit from improved cloud services that contribute to the digital transformation of companies and the technology ecosystem in Amsterdam.
The new Local Zones offer various advantages to customers in the Benelux countries. A key improvement is lower latency, which is critical for services that require real-time responses such as e-commerce, cloud gaming and video streaming. The latency in OVHcloud’s local zones is just a few milliseconds, resulting in faster response times and a better user experience.
Customers have access to OVHcloud’s open and trusted cloud, combined with the benefits of data residency. This means that data can be stored or accessed locally in accordance with local regulations and security guidelines. This is particularly important in industries such as consulting, financial services and healthcare, where privacy and sovereignty are critical.
Organizations can leverage various features of the public cloud such as compute, block storage and networking, including local public IP. In the coming months, OVHcloud will introduce additional services, including Object Storage and Managed Rancher Service for multi-cloud Kubernetes management.
The new local zones in Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid and Milan are ISO/IEC 27001 certified, complemented by ISO/IEC 27017 for cloud services security and ISO/IEC 27018 for personal data protection.
The Local Zones in Amsterdam and Brussels are now available to customers who manage their public cloud services directly through the OVHcloud customer interface.
