The “Shenlong” (“Dragon”) spacecraft launched an unknown object into Earth orbit. This was reported by the SpaceNews portal, citing Jonathan McDowell, an expert from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
Astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell said in a post on social network
During the previous flight, the Chinese plane also launched an unknown object. At the time, experts assumed it was either a secret satellite intended to study Shenlun’s flight, or a payload that turned out to be unnecessary anyway.
As you may remember, the Chinese spacecraft was launched into orbit for the third time on December 14, 2023. The launch took place at the Jiuquan Cosmodrome on the edge of the Badin Dzhara Desert in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
