One UI 7 is a new version of the user interface that Samsung is developing based on Android 15 for its Galaxy series mobile phones and tablets. It will be available in the second half of 2024 and eventually reaches a large number of devices.
You already know that all manufacturers who license the Android operating system produce an upper layer that acts as a user interface to differentiate themselves from the competition. Its importance, the quality of development and the amount of its own services and applications vary considerably among individual providers.
Samsung’s software is (for better or for worse, as there are users who prefer a “cleaner” interface) the most advanced of all manufacturers working on Android. It started with the name TouchWiz, then Samsung Experience, and finally materialized in One UI, which is now in its seventh generation.
Its new features will be combined with the general ones that Google has developed for Android 15. In addition to updating current services and applications, some of the important ones for One UI 7 in case of emergency, they go through a satellite connection; vertical app drawer in settings; a new mode to increase autonomy; Google Private Space feature; improved multitasking; integration with the Google Find My Device Network or improved security and anti-theft protection.
Also everything that comes from the ecosystem Galaxy A.Ifeatures including artificial intelligence released in the Galaxy S24, which Samsung extends to previous terminals with the latest stable version One UI 6.1.
Samsung is already testing the version internally and is expected to begin rolling it out in beta to users entering the testing phase after the summer. The final stable version will be available at the end of the year in a (non-exhaustive) list like this:
The list is not definitive and will include additional devices as early as 2025. Thanks to Samsung’s new policies (following the example of Google), the South Korean firm must achieve significant support for its usersup to seven years of security updates and operating system version updates with One UI at the forefront.
Samsung will likely release a list of devices this summer or update its community forums with more information about the beta. After Google releases Android 15 (around August or September), we should have more concrete news. This means that timelines and software updates may vary between regions and devices. We’ll tell you that.
