Recently, the lives of phone scammers have become very complicated. Mobile operators began to filter and block their calls. More and more people are using programs that can compare phone numbers with a database and warn the user about a suspicious call before he has time to answer it. But the attackers, chasing other people’s money, will not give up, they got out of the situation and now turn to messengers instead of phones.
The area is new and the plans are the same. Often, the robot initiates a call to the messenger, warning the potential victim that the customer of the bank has left an application for the person to change the trusted number or get a loan. The robot then asks to approve or deny this request. The victim, of course, is not aware of any applications, and then the robot offers to turn the call to a bank employee.
Then a professional scammer enters the case, who, using someone else’s emotional state, dilutes the victim with personal information: card numbers, CVC / CVV codes, confirmation codes from SMS. Particularly daring attackers may request a genuine loan or request a withdrawal via an ATM and transfer it to a “trusted” account.
Of course, real bank employees will never contact you through messengers. And what’s more, it does not begin to queue up the disclosure of personal data or suspicious transfers. Therefore, you should not answer unexpected calls from anyone in messengers.
