We know that artificial intelligence and robotic technologies are developing without delay. Now things we have seen in science fiction films are becoming reality. Since this is the case, researchers are conducting studies to look at the effects of such technologies on society. A recent study on children is one of them.
An international team conducted an experiment into children’s relationship with machines. In the results, Children trust robots more than people was seen. The research was published via Computers in Human Behavior.
Although results vary depending on age, children seem to prefer robots.

Researchers, 111 children between 3 and 6 years old used. They wanted to observe how information is obtained from different sources at these ages and who children trust. Children watched videos online of people and robots portraying different situations.
In one of these videos, both the human and the robot provided reliable information. In another case, the robot provided reliable information, while the human provided incorrect information. The third time it was the exact opposite. Objects have been used in the videos. Robots and people called these objects. In the incorrect information section, objects were given different names (such as calling a plate a spoon).
The findings show that children are more sensitive to robots. Believes that the information has received more was seen. Of course, it must be said that the situation changes somewhat depending on age. Older children were more likely to prefer people. However, as they grew older, they were seen to trust robots more.
They thought robots were smarter

It was also observed that they felt closer to the robots when they received reliable information from both the robot and the human. of the robot that you are smarter They turned out to be more likely to point out people in questions about who made mistakes while thinking. Who should be a teacher? Even when asked whether it was necessary, there were people who opted for the robot.
Because this experiment does not fully reflect real-world interactions, we cannot say with certainty that children trust robots more. Yet we can see that in a world where artificial intelligence and robots are becoming more and more common, children are also affected by this situation.
