The latest (unexpected) update for Windows 11 seems to cause problems with the taskbar.
Last week, Microsoft released an unannounced update (KB5037853) for Windows 11, with new features including improvements to account management, personalization options, and sharing updates. Now, it seems that users are experiencing issues with the taskbar stuttering or possibly becoming unresponsive. Microsoft acknowledges the issue and is offering users a solution on its support page.
Intermittent taskbar
Anyone running the latest Windows 11 update (KB5037853) may have noticed that the taskbar stutters, stops responding, or automatically disappears and reappears. This issue is related to the latest Windows 11 update from last week, which was also unannounced.
Microsoft acknowledges the issue on its support page and has written a solution. The issue can be resolved using Known Issue Rollback (KIR). For unmanaged business devices, it may take up to 24 hours for the solution to be automatically pushed to Home and Pro devices.
If you have a device running Windows Home or Pro, or a device that is not managed by an IT department, you will need to restart your device to get the solution. There is a special Group Policy for IT administrators to install and configure the solution. To do this, follow the steps on Microsoft’s support page.
