Although news about Samsung mostly focuses on its smartphones, it is indisputable that one of its main specialties is screens, whether we are talking about televisions or monitors. Not for nothing, many of the screens we see in third-party devices come from Samsung factories, which is one of the main global suppliers in the said market. To give one very significant example in this regard, the screens of the iPhone 15 are made of panels manufactured by Samsung.
Therefore, a renewal of the range of one of the two product categories is always a very interesting move, especially if it is broad enough to reach multiple market segments. And that’s undoubtedly what we’ll find on this occasion, as Samsung has refreshed its flagship Odyssey as well as the ViewFinity and Smart Monitor families. Below is an overview of the new models

We start with the Odyssey family, more specifically the OLED G8 and G6 models that we could already see at CES 2024. As you can see in the table, unlike what we are going to see in the vast majority of the rest of the models announced today, In this case we find one size for each of the two models, 32 inches (3,840 x 2,160 dots, 16:9, up to 240 Hz) for the G8 and 27 (2,560 x 1,440, 16:9, up to 360 Hz) for the G6. To complete the list of differences, the G8 model has artificial intelligence features, where it relies on the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which, among other things, enables intelligent scaling. And in the sound part, the G8 integrates a speaker.
Otherwise, the rest of the specifications are the same for both models, which are characterized by an exceptionally low response time of just 0.03 milliseconds GtG (gray to gray), a typical brightness of 250 nits and Samsung Glare Free OLED technology guaranteeing color correspondence and image sharpness, as well as reducing the presence of glare . And for AMD graphics adapter users, both models support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

We continue the Samsung Smart Monitor family, the most versatile proposition, which adds a total of five new models with this update, the 32-inch M80D, the 42- and 32-inch M70D, and the 32- and 27-inch M50D. The common denominator of this group is that they focus on offering a complete experience for multiple devices united in a single hub, i.e. in the monitor itself.
The top of the range is the M80D, a 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, 400 cd/m2 brightness and some advanced features for both video and audio, including AI-based intelligent image scaling up to 4K supported the NQM AI processor, a 360 sound mode that pairs with the Galaxy Buds to create a surround sound environment, and SlimFit camera integration.
Available in 32 and 43 inches, the M70D matches most of its specifications with the M80D, although it lacks the points we hinted at at the end of the previous paragraph. Of course, the larger model includes speakers with higher power. And to conclude the list, the M50D, available in 27 and 32 inches, offers FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080) with a refresh rate of 60 hertz, a brightness of 250 nits (typ.) and the rest of the specifications match the M70D. .

ViewFinity, Samsung’s proposal for artists and creative professionals, is the one in which we find the biggest renewal, with a total of 12 new models divided into five denominations, which are divided into three groups: ViewFinity S8 (models S80UD and S80D), ViewFinity S7 ( model S70D) and ViewFinity S6 (models S60UD and S60D).
As you can see in the table, the S80UD, S80D and S70D, available in 27- and 32-inch versions, offer 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), with a refresh rate of 60 hertz and a brightness of up to 350 nits. (typical). And since we are talking about screens specifically aimed at the world of creators, where reliability in color correspondence is essential, all three can represent 99% of the sRGB color space. The S80UD also includes a KVM switch.
Available in three sizes (24, 27 and 32 inches), the S60UD and S60D are based on an IPS panel and offer QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution with a refresh rate of up to 100 hertz. They are also capable of adequately representing 99% of the sRGB color space, their brightness can scale up to 350 nits, and the UD model also integrates a KVM switch.
