Lexus parent company Toyota has launched the formidable GT3 GR concept car for 2022, and a prototype car was recently tested at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Toyota Gazoo Racing plans to allow this car to compete in the most important competitions, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2026.
FIA homologation rules state that any GT3 class car must have the same basic body design as the production car. Therefore, Toyota is expected to launch the production version of the GT3 GR within the next two years. The upcoming GT3 GR is expected to use the Lexus brand instead of the Toyota brand.
The specific parameters of the racing version have not yet been announced, but the rules of the GT3 event are relatively flexible. The participating cars have a power of approximately 500-600 hp and their weight does not exceed 1300 kilograms.
