Supermicro is expanding with new liquid-cooled data center campuses in Silicon Valley. The IT company wants to respond to increasing demand and ride the AI wave.
US IT company Supermicro announces the opening of new campuses as demand for liquid-cooled data centers increases. The facilities will be part of the new liquid-cooled ecosystem and will shorten the time to delivery to customers around the world. With this, Supermicro aims to meet the increasing demand for liquid-cooled data centers, which is mainly due to the AI craze.
More and more companies are turning to AI, which means more powerful, multi-system systems are required Hot running GPUs. Supermicro plans to meet this demand by opening three new liquid-cooled data centers in Silicon Valley. The company will focus on providing plug-and-play installations for customers.
“We expect liquid-cooled data centers to grow from historically less than 1% to an expected 15% and up to 30% of all data center installations over the next two years,” said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro.
In addition to the AI hype, the environmental aspect also plays an important role. Power consumption and environmental impact are reduced and operating costs can be reduced by up to 40 percent compared to conventional, air-cooled data centers.
“Many data center owners are looking for power-efficient direct liquid-cooled (DLC) solutions,” said Liang. “Supermicro is developing liquid-cooled building block solutions for AI factories and the HPC market.”
