Zscaler is strengthening its relationship with Google. The security specialist will closely integrate its solutions with those of Google, especially with companies that have adopted the Workspace ecosystem.

Zscaler is working more closely with Google to help organizations strengthen their zero trust strategies. Integration with Chrome Enterprise provides users with enhanced threat and data protection without the need for legacy VPNs or additional browsers.

Additionally, Zscaler’s integration with Google Workspace helps prevent the exfiltration of sensitive data from apps like Gmail and Drive. The partnership improves security operations by sharing Zscaler’s security telemetry with Google Security Operations.

Secure access without VPNs

The partnership between Google and Zscaler provides enterprises with secure access to private applications without the need for VPNs for remote access. This makes sense because VPN connections no longer fully meet the needs of a modern IT environment and still pose security risks.

When external parties or employees use their own devices to access corporate applications, cyber threats and data loss pose a higher risk. Traditionally, companies use endpoint security and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to address this problem, but Zscaler is not interested in this and wants to offer a better alternative. Zscaler and Google’s integrated solution reduces the dependency on VDI without forcing users to adopt a new browser.

Protection against exfiltration

By integrating Zscaler with Google Workspace productivity and collaboration apps, organizations can maintain tighter control over sensitive emails and documents. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) helps prevent the exfiltration of sensitive data from Gmail, Google Drive, Sheets, Slides, and Docs.

Tenant restrictions and granular agency controls ensure that business and personal data are kept separate with different access rights. Additionally, integration with the Google Drive Labels API enables companies to apply labels to files for classification, review, and privacy protection.

Telemetry

Zscaler’s integration with Google Security Operations helps organizations detect, investigate, and respond to threats. The integration delivers actionable data within Google Security Operations, where critical data is at the center, reducing the need for experts to switch between dashboards.
