Axis Communications introduces its first all-in-one camera with 41 megapixels or 8K resolution, the Axis Q1809-LE Bullet Camera, ideal for large outdoor areas such as ports and sports stadiums.

The Axis Q1809-LE bullet camera delivers images with up to 41 megapixel resolution thanks to Axis’ Dual ARTPEC-8 system-on-chip, a 4/3-inch image sensor and a custom Canon telephoto lens (50-150 mm). This delivers a 16:9 format image with a vertical field of view of 21° up and -7° down and 3x zoom at 8K resolution.

This allows very detailed images to be captured even in poor lighting conditions and from great distances. Electronic image stabilization guarantees stable video images, even in the event of vibrations, for example caused by wind. Axis Zipstream technology reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising image quality, according to the brand.

Robust construction and cybersecurity

The camera is designed for direct outdoor use and has a robust, weatherproof aluminum housing with protection classes IP66, IP67, IK10 and NEMA 4X. The shock-resistant glass front has protection class IK08.

The included mounting arm enables quick and easy installation and the spacious backbox ensures efficient cable management. A PoE output offers the possibility to connect and power additional network devices. Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform, protects the camera against cyber threats and offers certified encryption according to FIPS 140-3 Level 3.

The 8K resolution, comparable to four 4K cameras, offers excellent zoom capabilities without loss of image quality. The Axis Q1809-LE bullet camera is now available. The manufacturer does not provide a recommended price.
