The 78-year-old New York tycoon thanked the Secret Service and other law enforcement officials for their “quick response” to the rally, which took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.
He also expressed his “deepest condolences” to the family of the member of the public killed in the shooting and another person who was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
After shots were fired, Trump was quickly escorted off stage with blood on his right ear and part of his face.
Shortly after, his campaign said the Republican was “doing well.”
The Butler County Prosecutor’s Office said the assailant, who has not been identified, is dead.
