National telecom operator Kyivstar started using LTE 2300-TDD mobile data transmission technology in test mode. Thanks to the new mobile technology, the company plans to increase the highest data rates and improve its communication services in regions where data traffic is increasing rapidly.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported in the press service of the company.

“In the second quarter of 2022, the national telecom regulator allocated three radio frequency bands in the 2100 MHz band to 3 mobile operators to increase the capacity of existing 3G networks or improve the radio coverage of LTE / 4G networks. Recently, the telecom regulator gave Kyivstar permission to temporarily (during martial law) connect radio equipment in the 2300 MHz band. Therefore, the company plans to increase mobile network capacity in border areas and cities where large numbers of residents migrated from other parts of the country during the war. ‘ it was said.

“The stable operation of telecom networks helps to bring victory. We are grateful to the leadership and industry of the country for their comprehensive support and for creating new opportunities for citizens of Ukraine, government agencies and businesses to provide more stable and reliable mobile communications, which is our priority in martial law, “he said. .

A feature of the new mobile technology is that data reception and transmission are carried out on the same frequencies. This allows the operator to manage network bandwidth more effectively. Using LTE 2300-TDD technology at 40 MHz bandwidth, the “peak” speed of mobile data transmission can reach 600 Mbps under ideal radio conditions.

As noted, the use of new mobile technology for customers, better mobile Internet services in heavy traffic, high-quality video streaming, more opportunities for online financial transactions, fast launch of “remote businesses”, etc. It means.

The first base stations working with the new technology have been established in Ternopil.

“So far we have included the first two of the three LTE 2300 TDD base stations in Ternopil. But we want to develop new technologies throughout Ukraine, and we plan to install 100 such base stations by the end of this year, “he said.

The company noted that the development of new mobile technologies in Ukraine is possible thanks to the help of government agencies – the National Regulatory (NCEC) and the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunication Networks (NCU), the Ministry of Digital Transformation. State Private Communications. Foreign suppliers of radio network equipment – Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, ZTE – are also actively helping to implement this project.

According to analytics data from Kyivstar, after February 24, 2022, more than 4 million subscribers moved to the West of Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported in June, Kyivstar subscribers going to some countries of the European Community for the third month in a row can use mobile services at the same tariffs as in Ukraine, without any additional charges.
