Ubiquiti introduces the new Cloud Gateway Max router, which has five 2.5 GbE ports and NVMe SSD. It supports the full suite of UniFi apps and has built-in support for UniFi Network, so there is no need to install Cloud Key or UniFi Network on an external device. The Cloud Gateway Max is the successor to the recently introduced Cloud Gateway Ultra. The 512 GB variant is already available, the 1 and 2 TB models will have to wait until early August.
Cloud Gateway max
The Cloud Gateway Max is a compact router with five 2.5GbE ports and an optional NVMe SSD for storing UniFi Protect camera images. The throughput speed is reduced to 1.5Gbps when the IDS and IPS security features are enabled. In addition, the Cloud Gateway Max supports the full range of UniFi applications such as UniFi Protect, Talk and Access.
The router does not offer integrated Wi-Fi support, which requires separate access points. In addition, the router is powered via USB-C and consumes a maximum of 16.1 W according to Ubiquiti. The device is equipped with a display that shows the number of connected clients.
Powerful successor
Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max is a powerful successor to the Cloud Gateway Ultra, which was introduced earlier this year. Unlike the Max version, this wired router has four GbE RJ45 ports and a 2.5GbE RJ45 WAN connection. The Ultra has a maximum of 1GbE and does not support UniFi apps.
Ubiquiti is currently only releasing a variant with a 512 GB SSD for 312.18 euros including VAT. From August 2nd, the 1 TB and 2 TB variants will be available for 389.62 and 526.03 euros including VAT respectively.
