Anthropic launches Claude for Android. Claude is Anthropic’s main competitor for ChatGPT. The generative AI chatbot runs on Claude 3.5 Sonnet: the latest model from the LLM specialist. Claude 3.5 Sonnet is said to be better and faster than GPT-4o from OpenAI.
Anthropic has to market Claude from an outsider position, as many people today associate generative AI with ChatGPT. But Anthropic also enjoys great support and receives major investments from AWS, among others.
Claude for Android is designed to make the chatbot more accessible to a large audience. Anthropic has already released Claude for iOS. Users get free access to the latest Claude 3.5 model, but Anthropic also offers paid subscriptions through Anthropic Pro and Teams. You can send up to thirty messages per day for free.
Users can talk to the chatbot and ask questions, but also upload images from their phone for analysis or translations. Sync conversations within the same account across all devices.
In addition, Claude’s functionality is very similar to that of ChatGPT. However, especially for paying customers, ChatGPT has slightly more extensive capabilities. For example, the GPT-4o model generates images without any problems, while Anthropic’s Claude cannot help with such questions.
You can find the app for Android here in the Play Store. Be careful when searching directly in the store, as irrelevant sponsored results are currently at the top.
