Have you ever wondered that the hottest day in history?

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) confirmed on Tuesday that the latest July 22 was the hottest day on Earth since records began, reaching a new global average temperature record 17.16 degrees Celsius.

“We just had the warmest day in modern history, July 22, and July 23 was also very close “in terms of temperatures worldwide,” said Alvaro Silva, a climate expert with the organization.

Silva stressed that while anthropogenic climate change is the main factor contributing to this situation, another important variable that led to this temperature spike was the recent heat wave in Antarctica, the second in the last two years.

The Antarctic continent is also seeing a record reduction in ice cover compared to the same period last year.

Temperatures in July were “particularly extreme” across the northern hemisphere, particularly in regions such as Europe and Asia, according to data released today by the WMO.

This made July the warmest month ever recorded in several Asian countries such as Bahrain, China and Japan, and the second warmest month in India.

The Northern Hemisphere is currently in the middle of its meteorological summer, which ends at the end of September, the organization that serves as the scientific arm of the United Nations reminds.

However, he warned that July temperatures were also “unusually high” in the southern hemisphere, where winter temperatures exceeded 35 degrees Celsius in southern Bolivia, Brazil and parts of Paraguay and Uruguay.

This is 10 degrees higher than the usual temperature in these regions at this time of year.
