In a joint statement, the leaders of France, Germany and Britain expressed support for efforts by Qatar, Egypt and the United States to reach an agreement on ceasefire and release of hostages in the conflict in Gaza.

“We, the leaders of France, Germany and Great Britain, “We welcome the tireless work of our partners in Qatar, Egypt and the United States to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of the hostages,” said in a statement French President Emmanuel Macron; Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany; and Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The leaders issued an urgent call for an immediate resumption of negotiations, backed up by a joint statement from the leaders of these countries.

“President Biden calls for an immediate resumption of negotiations. “We agree that there can be no further delays,” they said. The leaders stressed that “The fighting must stop now and all hostages still held by Hamas must be released.”

They also stressed the need for “urgent and unlimited delivery and distribution of aid” to the people of Gaza.

The statement expressed concern about the growing tensions in the region and reaffirmed the leaders’ commitment reduction of these tensions and regional stability.

This call occurs when expected Iran’s inevitable response after Hamas leader’s assassinationIsmail Haniyeh blames Israel for Tehran attack.

Iran had already launched an attack on Israel in April with dozens of drones and missiles, many of which were intercepted over Jordan and Syria, in response to Israel’s April 1 attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, 16 people died, Among them is the General of the Revolutionary Guard Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

European and American leaders have called on Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks that could further escalate tensions in the region.

“We call on Iran and its countries to refrain from attacks that could further escalate regional tensions and will jeopardize the possibility of negotiating a ceasefire and the release of hostages,” they said. They warned that they “will be held accountable for actions that jeopardize this opportunity for peace and stability.”
