There is little doubt that foldable phones today are far less durable than traditional mobile phones, but Xiaomi is determined to deliver. Let’s get this idea out of our heads. To do this, its CEO and founder, Lei Jun, showed us this through his official profile.
All kinds of tests are carried out here to ensure that the devices are resistant to impacts and other everyday situations that may occur in our daily lives. The test results are quite strikingand they certainly make us doubt whether a foldable mobile phone is really the same as other traditional equipment in terms of durability.
Impacts, water immersion and much more
As we told you, the tests performed in this laboratory are really diverse. The first of them focuses on hitting phones on different surfaces to verify that these are drop-resistant, and surprisingly, both the MIX Fold 4 and MIX Flip pass the test without any problems, regardless of the height we throw them from.
On the other hand, Xiaomi was also interested Experience the water and moisture resistance of these equipment because as you know, both have IPX8 resistance. This means that both can withstand being submerged up to one and a half meters in water without causing any major discomfort and can even withstand temperatures of up to 55°C with 95% humidity, which is surprising for a phone with these characteristics.
Finally, because it couldn’t be any other way, the final resistance test with both teams, Fold and unfold the screen to check if it is resistant over time. Again, the results are quite positive with a total of 500,000 folds without the screen being affected, which is more than 130 folds per day for a total of 10 years.
In short, thanks to this laboratory we were able to verify that at least in these specific cases: Both the MIX Fold 4 and the MIX Flip are very reliable phones in terms of resistance levelOf course, these are situations that will change a lot in our daily lives, but at least we can see that Xiaomi is very concerned that its foldable panel products can withstand very complex situations without any problems.
