The progress Neuralink has made with its brain implants is something worth celebrating. We have already seen that this type of implants allows the creation of a brain-computer interface, and that because of this, it is possible to restore abilities to people with serious disabilities that not only make their lives easier, but allow them to enjoy it a little more.

One of the best recent examples is an ALS patient who he could speak again with his own voice thanks to this type of implants and the use of artificial intelligence. It’s not the only major success that has been achieved recently, Neuralink confirmed that the second patient of its BCI (brain-computer interface) chip could play Counter Strike 2 again thanks to this implant.

In the demonstration video shared by Neuralink, we can see that the implant is working perfectly and that Alex, the name of the patient who received this second implant, can safely enjoy the game in the Valve game. The truth is that the movements of a the movements are completely natural and have more than acceptable fluidity.

According to Neuralink, he learned to control the implant in five minutes

And the recovery period after surgery was quick and completely safe. With the implant now installed, Alex began control the mouse pointer in less than five minutes, and a few hours later, he was able to surpass the levels of speed and accuracy that he had been able to achieve with previous assistive technologies.

The Neuralink implant uses the patient’s thoughts and converts the brain’s electrical impulses into signals that a computer can interpret and generate commands that ultimately control the brain-machine interface. The results are spectacular because Alex was able play video games againand also to develop personally and professionally.

This interface allowed you to start using CAD software using your thoughts to design 3D objects that will one day allow you to work again. Alex was an automotive technician who suffered a spinal injury that left him quadriplegic.

To improve the results of this implant and avoid the performance degradation that already occurred in the first patient of this implant, Neuralink used several mitigations that prevent what is known as thread withdrawal. Mitigations include limiting brain movement during surgery and minimizing the space between the implant and the brain.
