Google Photos search was good, now it’s even better with this new feature. It’s coming to Android phones too

Although we have a gallery application pre-installed on our mobile, many users opt for Google’s solution, which is a complete Google Photos solution that hides useful functions such as Magic Eraser and, more recently, Magic Editor. applies artificial intelligence to our photos.

This is not the only way for AI to reach Google’s service: we knew that Gemini would be the protagonist of the application and now the search engine company has started to implement it. The name of the function is “Ask for a Photo» Finding our photos and videos in a way that is both effective and natural is a revolution. As we will see below, it hides much more than that.

AI-enabled Google Photos will be more than just a gallery

During Google I/O 2024, the Mountain View giant revealed some of its cards for mobile AI. Along with improvements to Photos with the Magic Editor, which can do much more than what we saw on the Pixel 9, Ask Photos.

It was about the implementation of artificial intelligence powered by Gemini and Updates Google Photos search to make it even more usefulIf it was already one of the most relevant aspects of the app, it’s now even more so. As Google confirms, Gemini uses its models to “understand the contents of your photo gallery, such as the most important people in your life, your hobbies, or your favorite foods.”

This way, it can “extract relevant details that will help you find specific memories and discover information about your life.” Make water cleaner. You’ll no longer have to search for “food” to see our delicious food photos, it’ll be as easy as asking, “Where did I eat my potato omelet?” and Google Photos will show us the images we’re looking for on the screen.

The Gemini logo is central to remind us where their technology comes from, and the results don’t take long to appear. This renewed search should find what we’re looking for without a hitch. Right? Google tells us to persist: “You can provide additional tips or details to point him in the right direction.”

It will not only be used for making calls, but also create content from our gallery. For example, you might be asked about “best activities from your last trip,” and a memory can be summarized with images. And we don’t have to worry about privacy: Google reiterates that “Google Photos is never used for ads and is protected by our industry-leading security measures.”

Queries may be reviewed by humans to help us improve Ask Photos, but only after you’ve signed out of your Google Account to protect your privacy.
