Red Hat announces the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) AI for hybrid cloud environments.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI for hybrid cloud environments is generally available today. The platform combines open source models with model optimization tools, theoretically making it easier for companies to use generative AI.
Red Hat aims to make generative AI more accessible by offering open source LLMs. The platform includes, for example, models from the Granite series and the InstructLab tools for model customization.
AI efficiency
According to Red Hat, the platform enables organizations to train and customize generative AI models to their needs at a lower cost and without the need for specialized data scientists. This is fully possible in a hybrid cloud environment, where integration with Red Hat OpenShift AI supports further scaling and deployment.
RHEL AI provides a ready-to-use environment for both on-premises and cloud environments and can be downloaded directly from the Red Hat customer portal. Red Hat expects availability on major cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud later this year.
In addition to cloud integration, Red Hat is also working with hardware partners such as Dell. For example, RHEL AI is optimized for use on the Dell PowerEdge R760xa servers, as both parties announced yesterday.
