Microsoft has yet to make a public announcement of the Windows 11 24H2 release date, but if you want to know right away, the company revealed the plan in a hidden announcement.

Yesterday, Microsoft published an article on its blog titled “Enhanced data protection with Windows and Microsoft Copilot”has announced new capabilities for its AI assistant that will activate precisely with annual Windows feature updates.

And as announced, Windows 11 24H2 (Windows 11 2024 Update) will be the only general feature update for the operating system to be released this year, and it will also mark the real start of the Copilot+ PC platform, as it won’t be until this version that most of the announced AI features deployed.

When will Windows 11 24H2 launch?

Microsoft explains that changes [en Copilot y por ende en Windows] will be deployed to managed computers starting with the release of the non-security optional preview September 24, 2024 and then with the release of a monthly security update October 8 for all compatible versions of Windows 11″.

In other words, the feature update is just a week away for users who install the optional preview update for Windows 11. Those who don’t will receive it on October 8, 2024 as part of the monthly feature update on the second October Patch Tuesday.

Note that if you want to try the next version of Windows 11 now, you can do so by installing a “preview” version from Windows Update, with the only requirement compared to the stable versions being the prior activation of the Insider channel.

Microsoft has also updated Windows 11 24H2 ISO images that allow you to perform clean install (from scratch) or update third-party PCs using the corresponding installation media. They also allow you to run the system on virtual machines in a simple way and without having to touch the system you are using that will act as a host.

They have been available for weeks for x86 and ARM64 architectures. The first option is for customers with computers based on Intel or AMD processors, and the second option is for users using Windows PCs with Qualcomm Snapdragon or Microsoft SQ processors. Macs with Apple Silicon chips are also supported.

If you want to get ahead, go for it. If you don’t want to complicate things and prefer to wait for the final version, don’t worry because the release of the main version of Windows for this year will be available in the coming weeks.
