The Song Pro crossover first appeared on the Chinese market in 2019 and was available in ICE and PHEV versions. Five years later, BYD only sells the plug-in hybrid version. The current BYD Song Pro is one of the most popular Chinese crossovers. 158,345 units were sold from January to August this year. To keep the momentum going, BYD is preparing to launch the second-generation BYD Song Pro.
The new Song Pro DM-i 2025’s central tunnel features a large motion mode switch surrounded by physical controls. Other features include two cup holders and a pair of wireless phone charging pads. There’s a large compartment under the central tunnel.
The second row of the new Song Pro DM-i has been supplemented with a central headrest and an armrest. At the rear there are air vents and charging ports. The new crossover has a large panoramic roof that visually expands the space in the cabin. The interior is made in black and beige.
The dimensions are 4735x1860x1710 mm and the wheelbase is 2712 mm. The Song Pro DM-i uses BYD’s 5th generation DM system. It consists of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 99 hp and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with a capacity of 215 hp. The Song Pro DM-i has two LFP battery options from FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD. The first had a capacity of 13 kWh, the second – 18.3 kWh. The pure electric range is 60-91 km. The new generation BYD hybrids can travel up to 1,500 km on a full tank and even more.
The Song Pro DM-i will enter the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of 2024. Its price will range from $15,400 to $21,000.
