Google is giving up and will eventually abandon us add birthdays directly to Google Calendaras well as changing the birthdays that currently appear on our calendars. Hard to believe, but this has not been possible in the 18 years that Google calendars have been around.
Google Calendar shows us the birthdays configured in Google contacts, but now we will be able to do it create a new custom event type called birthdaydirectly from Google Calendar.
All your birthdays on Google Calendar
There are those who find out the birthdays of friends and family members from Facebook and those who find it from Google Calendar. Neither of these methods is foolproof because the first requires all your acquaintances to be added to Facebook, while the second you have saved them as a contact. This is no longer necessary.
Google calendar already showed your friends’ birthdays, but the data was actually saved to your contacts. This isn’t ideal for those who don’t use Google Contacts or want to see the birthdays of people they don’t want to save. Or your dog, for example. The solution was obvious from the beginning, and Google finally decided to implement it: so Manually add birthdays to Google Calendar.
This feature is currently being enabled for all users and will go live on: a new type of event accessible from the floating button: Birthday. This type of events is simpler than normal events, since it only allows us to add the name, the date and if we want to receive notifications.
Custom birthdays can be created First with Google Calendar on Androidbut later it will be possible to create and modify them from the web and iOS versions as well.
