Anker recalls three power banks due to fire hazard

Owners of an affected power bank should dispose of the device safely and contact Anker.

Three popular power banks from Anker have a defect that could potentially pose a fire hazard. This affects these models:

  • Anker MagGo PowerCore 10K (product number A1642)
  • Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K (Product number A1652)
  • Anker Power Bank 20K (product number A1647)

Anyone who owns such a power bank needs to quickly surf to the official site and enter the serial number to check if their device is defective. Anker can then begin the process of refunding or exchanging the product.

According to Anker, there is a risk of fire due to a manufacturing defect. This can cause the lithium-ion batteries to overheat. Owners of an affected power bank should stop using it immediately and store it in a safe, insulated place.

If you want to throw away the power bank: Do not throw it in the trash. Take power banks to a recycling center, electronics store, or other approved location where lithium-ion batteries are safely stored and handled.
