Samsung launches Galaxy Tab S10 series: limited upgrade, smallest size disappears

New year, new tablet series from Samsung. There are hardly any upgrades this year. Apart from a chip change and the disappearance of the smallest model, there are hardly any changes.

Last year we wrote that we were finally happy that the entire Tab S9 series lineup, including the smallest tablet, had an OLED screen. A year later, the smallest model (11 inches) was canceled. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series comes to market in two variants: 12.4 inches (Tab S10 Plus) and 14.6 inches (Tab S10 Ultra).

What has changed in a year? Actually very little. The biggest news is that Samsung is swapping Qualcomm for Mediatek. Both models now have the Dimensity 9300+ on board, which brings WiFi 7 compatibility. Cameras, battery, screen, design, speakers, stylus, everything remains the same. Maybe that’s why Samsung is launching both tablets with a simple press release.

According to Samsung, the focus is now entirely on AI and both devices are equipped with artificial intelligence as standard. You can read about what you can do with Samsung AI in our test here. What’s special is that the Tab S9 tablets have also received a software update, which also makes them AI compatible. It is not yet clear whether there is a big difference in AI capabilities between the two generations. The fact that Samsung is now advertising that it is the first tablet with AI “standard out of the box” is a bit short-sighted.

After a price increase last year, Samsung is keeping everything stable this time. Both tablets are available from today. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus starts at 1,119 euros for the WiFi version with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM. You can configure the tablet with a maximum of 512 GB of storage and further expand this capacity with a microSD card. 5G is also an option.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra starts at 1,339 euros for the WiFi version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Here too you can optionally choose 5G and up to 1 TB of storage (16 GB RAM), which you can expand via MicroSD. All prices include VAT.
