WhatsApp Status is getting new features including likes and private mentions.
WhatsApp is increasingly taking on the appearance of a social media platform like Facebook and Instagram. The communication platform adds new features to WhatsApp status, namely status likes, private notifications and the ability to reshare a status in which you are mentioned. The features will gradually be rolled out to all users worldwide.
Likes in WhatsApp status
WhatsApp status is part of the Updates tab in the app, which allows you to update other contacts about your status using a photo or video. These updates automatically disappear after 24 hours and are very similar to Facebook and Instagram stories.
WhatsApp is now expanding this “status experience” even further. Users will soon be able to like others’ status updates or add private mentions. With the latter, only those you mentioned in the status will see the message. Additionally, you can reshare a status that mentions you.
To get to your WhatsApp status, go to the tab in the app Updates below. Then see above My statuswhere you can add your own status. Here you can select photos and videos, add text, and choose who sees this status update. The new features also allow you to privately mention other people or “heart” other people’s statuses.
WhatsApp says this new feature is being rolled out gradually and will soon be available to all users. The company also adds that more Status and Updates tab features will be available in the coming months.
