It finally happened

Multiple European news agencies reported that someone had finally cracked the code and found a golden owl figurine in France. Gizmodo writes that they called this treasure hunt the longest treasure hunt in the world.

The Golden Owl was a sort of advertisement for Regis Hauser’s book “In Search of the Golden Owl”. To motivate readers to buy, the author said 11 puzzles in his book would reveal the location of the treasure. He believed this would happen relatively quickly, but the solution had been sought for over 31 years.

The game’s co-creator, artist Michel Becker, announced on Discord: someone found an owl. It is currently unclear who solved the riddle.

We can confirm that Golden Owl was revealed last night as the solution was uploaded to the online verification system. Therefore, you do not need to dig in a place that you think is a hiding place,
Becker wrote on Discord.

The only person who knew the location of the owl was Hauser, so after his death, a lawsuit began between the author’s heirs and Becker. Becker received the answers to the riddles in the early 2020s and immediately continued the challenge, starting a Discord server for discussion.

The weight of the trophy owl is about 10 kilograms. It is made of silver and gold. The owl also has diamonds on its head costs approximately 150,000 euros. In fact, the example buried in the ground is a bronze copy. However, whoever finds it can exchange it for a real reward of precious metals held by Becker.

Here’s what a real gold, silver and diamond trophy owl looks like:

Before his death in 1996, Hauser insisted that the puzzles would not be that difficult if the people working on them did it together.

If all the researchers combined all their information, the owl would be found within two hours.
said Hauser.

The treasure hunt that previously held the time record was held in Great Britain and was called Quest: A Zetetic Treasure Hunt. They lasted 13 years and seven months, from 1992 to 2006.

This time, those who could not find the treasure will finally be able to get the answers to the 11 mysteries that have confused them for all these years. The answers are expected to be revealed eventually.
