The video maker claims he was fired after a religious group in the foothills of Sierra complained that it was dominating one of Google’s divisions.

In a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, a religious organization called the Brotherhood of Friends has created an intricate 1,200-acre complex filled with artwork and intricate architecture. Believing that a higher consciousness can be reached by dealing with fine arts and culture, the sect also has a place in the Google business unit.

According to the lawsuit filed by 34-year-old former Google video producer Kevin Lloyd, 12 members of the Brotherhood and their close relatives work at Google Developer Studio.

Many other members of the fraternity worked at the company’s events, signed up, took photos, played music, gave massages and served wine. According to the lawsuit, Google regularly purchased wine for these activities from the Oregon House winery, which was owned by one of the fraternity’s members.

Lloyd claims he was fired last year for complaining about the influence of a religious sect. His lawsuit was also named Advanced Systems Group (ASG), which sent Lloyd to Google as a contractor. Many of the Google Developer Studio employees came to the team as contractors through the ABO, including many Brotherhood members. Lloyd’s case in the California Supreme Court accuses Google and ASG of violating California labor laws that protect workers from discrimination. The case is under investigation.
