Anthropic is increasing the price of its latest AI model, Claude 3.5 Haiku.

In March this year, Anthropic launched the Claude 3 family: a trio of models including Sonnet, Opus and Haiku. The latter positioned the company as a leader in speed and affordability. Last month, Anthropic announced the latest generation of the model: Claude 3.5 Haiku. Initially the price wasn’t supposed to be much different compared to its predecessor, but Anthropic now seems to be backing down. Multiply the price of Claude 3 Haiku by four and you get the price of Claude 3.5 Haiku.

Price quadrupled

Claude 3.5 Haiku was released last month. It is available through Anthropic’s API and some third-party platforms such as AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. “Haiku is fast and particularly strong at programming. It surpasses State of the artModels, including GPT-4o, op SWE benchmark verifiedthat measures how models actually solve software problems,” Anthropic said in a post on X.

Although Claude 3.5 Haiku can output longer sections of text compared to Claude 3 Haiku, it is unable to generate images. “For users who require maximum cost efficiency and image processing, Claude 3 Haiku remains available through our API at our lowest price,” said Alex Albert, head of developer relations at Anthropic, in a post on X.

What are the current prices for Claude 3.5 Haiku? Prices start at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. This is a quadrupling of the price of Claude 3 Haiku, which is $0.25 per million input tokens and $1.25 per million output tokens.
