Microsoft provides Notepad with AI text editing with the Rewrite function.

Thanks to the AI ​​Rewrite function, you will soon be able to improve your texts in Notepad in Windows 11. Microsoft writes on its blog that the feature includes rewriting sentences and adjusting the tone and length of your texts.

Windows insiders who use Windows 11 can already try out the new function in the preview. Select the text you want to edit, right-click and select the “Rewrite” option. A dialog box will then appear in Notepad with several options for rewriting the text. You will then be shown three alternative text versions so that you can choose the most suitable one.

Users must be signed in with their Microsoft account as the feature is powered by a cloud-based service, says The Verge. Rewrite isn’t the only AI feature that Notepad has gained in a short period of time. Microsoft has also given the word processor an AI spell checker and autocorrection; but also the Cowriter function, which helps you rewrite notes.

Windows Insiders can also get started with the new AI photo editing tools in Paint. Generative fill lets you add things to images based on prompts. Generative deletion removes distracting elements from photos and automatically fills empty space.

The Rewrite feature is currently only available to Windows Insiders with Windows 11 Copilot Plus PCs in select countries. Currently the feature is not available in the Benelux and a public release date has not yet been announced.
