Although Microsoft lets you turn off widgets on the lock screen, there’s no way to force the operating system to display only the weather widget, for example; You can have all of these or none of them. Build 27747, the latest language pack for Windows 11 released for testing on the Canary Channel earlier this week, sheds light on future improvements to lock screen widgets for Windows 11. As @xenopanther discovered in X, Microsoft allows users to add or remove individual lock screen widgets:

It’s worth noting that Microsoft may also plan to allow users to add third-party widgets to the lock screen. There are currently a bunch of third-party widgets you can place in the widget panel (there’s no way to place them on the desktop yet, despite previous rumors), so making them available on the lock screen makes widgets much more useful, especially for customers with laptops and tablets for.
Unfortunately, as is often the case with such out-of-context revelations, we can only guess what the grand plan is. Either way, it’s good to see Microsoft making improvements in the widget space, which frankly has potential but seems to be pretty neglected these days.
