What makes Yale Linus Smart Lock L2 special?

Yale Linus Smart Lock L2

What drew me to this lock in the first place was this: the possibility of no longer being tied to traditional keysand Yale has made this a truly practical and safe option. This lock allows you to control access to your home from your mobile phone, which is a huge advantage. You can lock and unlock the door without taking your keys out of your pocket and get notified when someone enters or leaves, adding a layer of security and peace of mind.

Also there was something that seemed to me The automatic locking function is very interesting. It has happened to me many times when I leave the house and wonder if I closed the door properly. It is automatically activated when you set off with Linus L2. You can also grant temporary access to others; This is very useful if you have visitors or need someone to come in when you are not home.

If you’re one of those people who always have their hands full when you get home, or you like the idea of having more hands-on control, this lock is a great option. Now for the thing I was most worried about in the first place: How easy is it to install?

Step by step installation of Yale Linus L2

Lock

I must admit that I was hesitant about the installation at first, but in the end it was much easier than I imagined.

You don’t need complicated toolsYou also do not need to disassemble the entire lock. The Yale Linus L2 sticks directly to the door and fits the locks you already have, so I didn’t have to make any changes to the door structure.

Step 1: Prepare the interior lock

The first thing I did was remove the inner part of the lock, i.e. the knob or handle this comes by default. This step was necessary to make room for the Linus L2, and although it depends a bit on the type of lock you have, it was pretty quick. Yale offers clear instructions in both the manual and the app; Just follow them step by step.

I was careful to thoroughly clean the surface of the door before continuing. This helps the lock adhere properly and not move over time.

Step 2: Install the adapter and lock the motor

This is where you really start to see the lock take shape. The Linus L2 comes with a variety of adapters so you can choose the one that best suits your bolt. In my case, I used the European profileso I had to remove two small screws to remove an adapter that was installed by default.

On the other hand, on the front, you’ll need to remove a plate by sliding it downwards to access the battery hole; you will see a small yellow arm. You need to slide the rear metal plate to be able to remove it. Once this is complete, you will simply place a copy of your key inside and apply the adhesive to the lock. It is important that you place the adhesive well centered for the lock to work properly.

You just need to insert the battery and place the cover, allows you to open the door manually With the small illuminated button as in the application or by turning the latch. Everything is ready to start calibrating.

The good thing about this system is that you don’t need to drill holes or use special tools. Before finishing the assembly, I made sure that the mechanism rotated smoothly and I must say that the adhesion system really surprised me with its durability. It remains perfectly stable and does not move even a millimeter even when frequently opening and closing the door.

Step 3: Setup in the Yale Access app

APPLICATION

Once the lock was installed, it was time to configure it from the Yale Access or Yale Home app. This is where all your smart features are unlocked. I scanned the QR code on the lock coverand within seconds it was already paired with my phone. You can also go directly to Google Play (Android) or the App Store. From the app, you can enable the DoorSense sensor, which detects whether the door is open or closed, and configure options such as automatic closing or notifications.

It is also possible to manage access with the application. For example, if someone needs to enter your home while you are away, you can send him a temporary key or if you wish, open the door from where you are. This entire startup process was quick and uncomplicated; This allowed me to control who came in and out of the house at any given time. A wide variety of options, which I advise you to choose little by little according to your preferences.

Accessories: Smart Keypad 2 and solar Power Bank for added convenience

Lock Accessories

Yale has developed a variety of accessories to personalize the Linus Smart Lock L2 experience. Smart Keypad 2 stands out, a keyboard with fingerprint readerThis allows you to unlock the door without having to use your mobile phone. It is ideal for those who prefer an alternative method or who want to facilitate access for people who do not use the application, such as children, neighbors, cleaning staff.

There’s also an optional solar power bank designed to recharge the battery if it runs out. This accessory is installed outdoors using solar energy Ensuring that the lock is always charged is a perfect solution for those looking for a more autonomous and ecological system.

An important feature is that Powered by a battery with an autonomy of approximately two years. But the Yale Access app alerts you when the battery is low, so you’re never caught off guard.

Smart Keypad 2 and solar power bank It provides extra versatility by allowing its use to be adapted to different needs. This lock is ideal for those who want to control access to their home from anywhere and enjoy easy installation without changing the door structure.
