But relying on this architecture was still problematic in some ways: something as simple as accessing the system’s ISO to perform a scratch installation was not possible. It took a while but eventually this is no longer a problem.

Say ‘Hello’ to the Windows 11 ISO image for ARM

As we said, it has not been possible to obtain the ISO image so far. Windows 11 for ARM. This possibility was limited to members of the Windows Insider Program, who had the opportunity to download preliminary versions of the system. Virtualization alternatives such as VMware Fusion 13 Pro for ARM were responsible for managing the internal download of the operating system.

Now, in addition to the options mentioned above, we can download Windows 11 from Microsoft’s own website. Accessing this is as simple as selecting the relevant version and clicking ‘Download now’. What we will get will be an ISO file that we can use to create an installation media (USB drive or DVD) and mount it in a virtualization program.

If you have a Windows 11 for ARM compatible device, you can now perform a clean installation just like you would on the x86 version of Windows. In any case, before carrying out any migration of this type, it is necessary to verify compatibility, have the necessary drivers and create a backup copy.
