Step on the Moon: NASA prepares to integrate Artemis II rocket

Preparation for the next rocket launch NASA SLS Moon It continues at Kennedy Space Center, including detailed system testing and installation. This sets the stage for the transport of launch vehicle sections to the launch assembly building, clearing the way for the Artemis II mission.

Since the Mobile Launcher returned from Launch Pad 39B to the Vehicle Building (VAB) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida in October, preparations have been underway to stow the Space Launch System (SLS) moon rocket.

To prepare for launch, the mobile launcher undergoes an optical scan, systems check, and hose cable overhaul, including installation of the aft skirt electrical hose cables.

The auxiliary segments will soon be moved from the spinning, finishing and waving plant to the VAB. There, the aft assemblies, the subsections of the five-section boosters, will be placed in the transport corridor before being lifted to the mobile launcher at High Bay 3.

Testing and preparation of mobile launcher and rocket elements form the basis of the test flight of the Artemis II crew around the Moon.
