Christmas is around the corner. We usually have more visits than ever at this time of year, both from friends and family, and if we have a small business or home office, it’s very likely that our customer flow will increase as well. These days our Wi-Fi network will have a lot more work to doand therefore it is important to have it ready.

At MC, we are aware of this reality, which is why we have prepared this article to share with you four recommendations that will help you prepare your Wi-Fi network for the perfect Christmas. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments and we’ll help you out.

1.- Check the configuration of the Wi-Fi network

So that everything is in order and there are no problems. It is important that you look at setting available networks and bandsand also check the cabling and connections of the router to rule out any problem that could affect its proper operation.

You can do this by specifying the router interface “http://192.168.0.1/” in the address bar of your Internet browser and access it using your username and password. If you have forgotten this information, you have two options:

• If you have never changed this information, enter the information provided by the reference router. They may be on a sticker on the back of the router.
• If you have changed them and have no other way to restore the information, you will need to reset the router to factory settings and you will be able to use the reference username and password.

2.- Find the intruder and change the password if necessary

Intruders can completely destroy the performance of your Wi-Fi network because they terminate consumes all available bandwidth. If you receive a lot of visitors over Christmas and they connect to your Wi-Fi, it will be even worse and the user experience will be very poor.

If you have one or more intruders just change the password from your Wi-Fi network to kick them out. Remember to use strong passwords and change all the ones you have in each of the available bands.

3.- Tune your router

It is very important because can make a big differenceboth in performance and coverage, and it’s pretty simple too. There are many things we can do to tune our router, but these are undoubtedly the most important:

• Place the router correctlyin an elevated position and free of obstacles and sources of interference.
• Update it to make sure it’s up to dateand that it has the latest enhancements available. In the case of AVM routers, this can make a big difference, as each new version of FRITZ!OS brings dozens of improvements.
• Orient the antennas well, If our router has external antennas, it is good to direct them to the area where we want to strengthen the coverage.
• change channelsand select those that are less saturated. Current routers usually do this automatically.

4.- Create a guest network with QR codes
