Spanish National Police agents arrested two people last Monday in Alicante for their alleged involvement in activities related to jihadist terrorism. Among those arrested is a converted woman, of Mexican origin, who, according to the authorities, would have gone through a deep process of radicalization.

An investigation carried out by the Office of the General Commissioner for Information, in collaboration with the information brigades of the provinces of Alicante and Tenerife, allowed the identification of two suspects who allegedly used social media profiles to consume and disseminate propaganda of the terrorist group Daesh and incite jihad.

According to the official statement, “the detainees accepted all the precepts of the most radical jihadism” and they glorified both the terrorist attacks and “the mujahideen militants and their most brutal actions.”

The operation included a search of the house, during which electronic materials and related documentation were seized which is analyzed by experts. Authorities stressed that this discovery could provide additional evidence of the criminal activities of the detainees.

Both those arrested were produced before the Central Training Court One yesterday afternoon. According to the statement, “the chairman of the court ordered the temporary detention of bothafter evaluating the evidence collected.

The National Police explained that the investigation began after identifying a radicalized person who not only consumed jihadist propaganda, but also actively disseminated it through social networks. This discovery established a connection between the two suspects, confirming what both had assumed extremist ideologies associated with the most radical jihadism.

The case strengthens cyber surveillance and intelligence operations carried out by security forces, authorities said, stressing that collaboration between different departments was critical to the success of the operation.
