Microsoft is improving Explorer with a new update. The update is available in the 23H2 beta channel and brings new features to File Explorer. According to Windows Latest, Windows 11 24H2 will receive these features in early 2025.
Intelligent explorer
One of the most notable improvements is the ability to restore tabs. If the option Restore previous windows when logging in is activated, not only the windows are restored, but also the open tabs.
Additionally, Explorer gets smarter tabs. When you open a folder from another location, such as the desktop, it opens as a new tab instead of a new window. You can enable or disable this option in Explorer Settings.
