Israel carried out 61 new bombings against Syria

The Israeli army began this Saturday 61 new explosions near the capital Syria, Damascus, As in other areas of the south of the country, attacks occur after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime due to the advance of jihadists and rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, with whistleblowers on the ground, said Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on military targets “as part of the destruction of the old regime’s army arsenal.”

In addition, he indicated that the targets of these explosions were military installations in the city of Mahaja, as well as Mount Qasiun.

Already early on Sunday morning, the Syrian Observatory announced that “ Israeli fighter jets continue to escalate violence in Syrian territoryand that as part of this offensive they carried out air strikes with three missiles on the warehouses of one of their units in eastern Homs.

In parallel, seven more attacks were recorded near the village of Hala in the Qalamoun district of Damascus “with the aim of destroying missile depots inside the mountain and striking air forces at Hama airport from the southwest.”

No dead or injured reported

So far, Syrian authorities have not reported any deaths or injuries from these latest attacks.

The number of Israeli airstrikes has risen to 61 since Saturday evening, according to the Observatory.

Thus, in total, Israeli forces have to date managed to carry out at least 446 attacks on Syrian territory after the fall of Assad, with the stated goal of destroying the country’s military capabilities in order to prevent them from falling into the hands of groups that could use them in the future to attack Israeli territory.

On Friday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the army to prepare to maintain its winter position on Mount Hermon, which was captured by Israeli forces after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria and is of strategic importance. (Europe Press)
