Asus’ innocent Christmas wreath appearing on several Windows 11 PCs takes on the unfortunate appearance of a malware banner.
Asus’ Christmas wishes don’t go as planned. The brand ran an advertising campaign on some PCs that resulted in a Christmas.exe appearing in Task Manager as well as a banner with a Christmas wreath on your screen. Unfortunately, this caused a lot of panic among users as they thought it was malware. Do you see that too? Then there is no need to panic.

Asus’ Christmas banner and its associated Christmas.exe process left many users in limbo. The banner shown in the screenshot below appeared to some users a few days ago. Christmas wreath with lights takes up a large portion of your screen and has a red button in the middle. Quite a few users noticed this when starting their Asus PC and shared these findings in a forum post discovered by Windows Latest.

The culprit is Asus Armory Crate, which comes pre-installed on some systems. So if you don’t want Asus to spam Windows 11, you can use the official Asus Armory uninstaller. Even after the holidays, the banner would automatically disappear.
