Microsoft says Edge is ‘best browser for gamers’

While people often complain of bloat in Microsoft Edge, Microsoft seems intent on making the browser happy in potential markets. To that end, the company announced today that Edge is “the best browser for gamers,” and also revealed some features to help validate its claims.

For starters, Microsoft is adding a new game homepage. Among other things, this will include news, guides, live streams and tournament highlights. It also integrates with Xbox, so if you sign in with your Xbox account, you’ll see content related to the games you’ve played recently. In fact, you can even run games directly in the browser if you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. This new home page is available as a tab on the Microsoft Edge home page.

Also introduced on Edge Canary in November 2021, Clarity Boost is finally coming to a stable channel. Basically, this provides better and clearer image quality, which means you can see more details when streaming games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. The technology uses client-side scaling to make streaming quality clearer. You can open it for the title by clicking the three-dot icon in the top left corner of the game.

Microsoft is also introducing a new configuration in performance mode that minimizes the use of browser resources while playing PC games. As soon as you exit the game, resource usage will return to normal. You can enable it in the performance settings in Edge.

Finally, Microsoft has officially announced a gaming hub for casual gaming on Edge. This game menu will be placed directly in the menu with three edge dots, giving you instant access to classic easy games like below. Microsoft Solitaire,, Gem,, mahjong etc. Microsoft has been testing this hub since December 2021. Source
