Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov told Ukrinform during the launch of the IT Generation training project for the training of IT specialties in the Media Center.

“Over the past six months, we have developed our vision of IT education reform. Exactly what needs to be done to meet the current demand in the IT sector in Ukraine. This IT education reform covers many components and stages. In the first stage, we will be able to train a thousand Ukrainians in the field of IT. In the second stage, we will train 2,000 more. we plan and then we will scale this project to tens of thousands of students who will receive free education, “Fedorov is in question.

According to him, the ministry selects the best schools to teach IT professions, both online and offline, as part of the project.

“We give these schools the opportunity to collect applications and conduct an interview from Ukrainians who have not worked in the field of IT before. Our partners, with whom we implement this project, will pay in full for the education of these Ukrainians,” said Fedorov.

He noted that the main criterion in the selection of potential IT professionals should be the lack of training and experience in this field. Companies interested in participating in this project can apply from next week and training for students will begin in August.

The IT Generation project is supported by the USAID Ukraine Competitive Economy Program and the Digital, Inclusive, Affordable: Promoting the Digitization of Public Services project in Ukraine run by UNDP Ukraine / UNDP in Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported, the Ministry of Digital Transformation expects to increase the IT sector’s share of Ukraine’s GDP to 10%.
