According to Shchigol, after the test, Ukrainian specialists contacted Starlink technicians and showed them how it works. The head of the State Special Communications Service said, “They were even surprised that we could use Starlink in this way. According to its specifications, it should not run at these speeds. But it works and it serves.”
As Ukrinform reported, more than 3,000 mobile operator base stations in Ukraine were completely or partially shut down due to the war, and more than 20% of the telecommunications infrastructure was damaged or destroyed.
SpaceX founder Elon Musk helped provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and satellite Internet access. It also transferred the Tesla Powerwall station to Ukraine.
