Microsoft has released a preview of Quake 4 for Xbox Insiders on Windows PC. The first-person shooter was released in 2005 and is currently live on the Xbox Insider Hub on Windows PC, and Microsoft hopes you’ll play the preview and report any issues before they make the free-to-play title more widely available.
If you want to participate in the game preview, open the Xbox Insider Hub on your Windows PC or install it from the Store if you don’t already have it. In App Center, go to the Preview section and click Quake 4, then Join. The app will process your registration and once completed you will be taken to the store where you can install the game. It’s important that you sign in to the Microsoft Store with the same account you use on Xbox Insider Hub.
According to Microsoft, Quake 4 will require administrative privileges to run. The firm said that if the User Account Control (UAC) prompt is bypassed for any reason, you may experience a crash. If this happens to you, find Quake4GDK.exe in the XboxGames folder, right click and run as administrator.
If you encounter any issues while playing the game, please visit this support page and report a bug to Bethesda, who will try to fix the issue before the game is released more widely. Source
