Apple has patented a new technology that could make it easier to use the iPhone in the rain. Of course, even now smartphones can partially withstand moisture, but typing on a wet screen or with wet fingers is not easy.
Apple wants the iPhone screen to adapt to humidity. False taps caused by liquid on the screen will be detected and eliminated by the technology. The controls on the screen can also change: the buttons will become larger and the distance between the interface element will increase to increase the accuracy of the click.
Apple will increase the finger pressure threshold to prevent accidental touch input from raindrops or liquid. The image in the patent application shows the iPhone’s camera app, which offers settings for ‘dry’, ‘wet’ and ‘underwater’ modes.
As with every patent, it is not yet clear whether this technology will appear on real devices.
