A few months ago, we reported that in June Microsoft would introduce a new notification bar in Outlook for Windows. While Microsoft may have missed the deadline, now in July, the new notification panel is finally ready to roll out to the Outlook Windows client.

In a blog post, Microsoft details the panel’s features. As explained by the software giant, the panel lets you choose the types of notifications you want to receive, including @mentions, travel updates, deliveries, and more via email and documents.

Notification bar items are stored for 30 days, after which they expire. Follow the steps below to access the control panel.

1. Select the Notifications icon (notification bar icon in Outlook) in the upper-right corner of the Outlook window to view the list of email and document notifications.

2. Click the @mention email notification card in the notification bar; this will open the email associated with this notification in an email popup.

3. Select Customize in the upper left corner of the notification bar you want to see in the future.

It is worth noting that the new notification panel will be offered to corporate customers in the first place. In the near future, Microsoft will open access to consumers. Microsoft will make the notification panel available to Office evaluators running Windows Beta Channel version 2208 (build 15408.10000) or later. Source
