It looks like Samsung’s Exynos chipset division is digging a deeper hole in itself with every new SoC development. The Exynos 2200 was probably a bigger disappointment than the Exynos 2100 despite its partnership with AMD, so perhaps it’s time for Samsung to step away for a while and get back to the drawing board.
The sad truth for Samsung customers in Exynos markets is that despite all the company’s efforts, chipsets are getting more unstable and problematic. We can only hope that the rumored Exynos 2300 SoC will do better, but again, the company’s chipset division isn’t very reassuring given its recent releases.
Customers otherwise lose faith in Samsung’s ability to design chipsets with each new Exynos release. And it may not be able to break this cycle if the company doesn’t stop releasing a new flagship Exynos chipset every year. Maybe it’s time for Samsung to go back to the drawing board, skip the annual Exynos release, come up with a better plan, and relaunch the mobile chipset brand for a new release in 2024.
And instead of using an Exynos SoC for the upcoming Galaxy S23 series, assuming the latter company can meet demand, perhaps Samsung should embrace Qualcomm entirely. Also, Samsung can cooperate with MediaTek and use Dimensity 9000+ or later.
My guess is that most Galaxy fans in Exynos markets won’t mind this temporary change, especially if it helps Samsung stabilize its chipset strategy and come up with something better for the Galaxy S24 series or whatever the 2024 flagship name is. Source
