Amazon representatives have officially unveiled an updated version of the Dash Cart smart cart, a special “basket” for grocery shopping that automatically scans all customer-added products and lets you pay for everything on one screen. The experts who created this technology are sure that such cars will allow you not to waste time in long queues at the checkout, but to buy them in a much more convenient and more automated format. However, so far such smart cars are more of an experiment than a full-fledged working product that can be used in modern supermarkets and shops.

The truth is, the project is still in development and needs many improvements – now Amazon lets you take advantage of the new Dash Cart at its Whole Foods grocery store in Westford, Massachusetts. Yes, the company has promised that this car will make its way to other stores of this franchise in many states of America in the coming months, but the process may be delayed. The original Dash Cart was presented by the company in 2020 – the same grocery chain operates in the stores of Whole Foods, and then Amazon promised to launch development in the USA in the near future.

The new Dash Cart works the same as the original – there are a number of sensors in the body that use artificial intelligence-based cameras and barcode scanners to determine what a person has loaded or removed from their cart. Already in 2020, the system worked extremely fast, recognizing the products that went to the cart almost instantly. In addition, scales are placed in the cart so that the system can determine the weight of a particular product (if the price is based on weight and not on quantity or fixed container) and the touch screen immediately displays the purchase list, price. you can pay the same for each product and the total cost.

The updated version of Dash Cart received the same functionality, but with two major upgrades. The first is that although the weight of the car has been reduced, the car has become larger and wider so that it will be possible to load much more goods. Second upgrade – now the shopping cart can recognize its location in the store and inform the user about nearby products.
