OUR NASA summed up the results of its fourth competition Photographer of the Yearin which he rewards his photographers for images taken during their time in space agency. The award was divided into four categories: “Documentation”, “Portraits”, “People” and “Places”. All images were taken in 2021. Check out the winners:

Photographer of the Year – NASA Announces Winners

1st place – portrait

Winner Category “Portrait” – Josh Valcarel.who recorded the image of the astronaut below Thomas Marshburn. Marshburn participated in three space flights, the last of which Crew 3 – which departed in November 2021 and returned in May this year.

2nd place – Portrait

Nora Moran took second place in the category with a portrait of astronaut Johnny Kim.

3rd place – portrait

Jim Ross took this beautiful selfie while flying an F-15 against the background of another fighter of the same model.

1st place – Documentation

Nora Moran won Documentation category with test image extravehicular reconnaissance (xEVA), where researchers Kelsey Young and Tess Caswell are conducting simulations of geological fieldwork on the Moon. Place of testing Lyndon B. Johnson Space Centerin Houston, Texas, where there is a special area to simulate the conditions of the lunar soil.

Chris Gunn recorded the moment when the James Webb Space Telescope was folded before preparing for its launch.

1st place – People

Danny Henry captures the moment when engineer Ryan Fisher demonstrates the “unglamorous” – and extremely important – part of the work on NASA. In the photo, we can see Fischer applying a lot of force to the torque wrench to tighten the screw on the vibrating table. The device was used in a satellite vibration test. STEP.

2nd place – People

Danny Henry came in second in this category.

1st place – Places

Dominic Hart took first place in seat category with a life-size recording of the National Full Scale Wind Tunnel giant wall (direct translation of the National Full Scale Wind Facility). The complex has the largest wind tunnel in the world. The photo shows members of the Blue Angels demonstration squadron.

2nd place – Places

Nora Morananother catwalk for her, took this shot in a B14 anechoic chamber during a test NASA for a new suit.
