The zero-day vulnerability allowed attackers to gain access to Android smartphones. This has been reported by XDA Developers.

Security researchers have disclosed a zero-day vulnerability that allows the Linux kernel to be disabled. Expert Zhenpen Lin, who discovered this, recorded the error on his Google Pixel 6 smartphone, but later confirmed it on Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones and other devices.

The critical vulnerability affects part of the Android kernel, allowing an attacker to gain arbitrary read and write access as well as superuser privileges. By obtaining these privileges, a hacker can interfere with the operating system and change the built-in security procedures. According to Lin, any Android device running the Linux kernel version 5.10 is vulnerable.

Zhenpeng Lin has already informed Google about the issue, and the company is expected to release an update that fixes the bug in the near future.
